Summer is upon us, and with it comes the need for a proper skincare routine to keep our skin healthy and glowing. To help you achieve the perfect summer skin, we’ve talked to Dr. Chaudhary, a top dermatologist at Rejuvenation MD Aesthetics & Vein Center, about her favorite summer skincare tips. We’re covering everything from favorite products to the perfect morning and evening routines to what to do if you have a sunburn.

Q: What are some of your favorite products for summer skincare?

Dr. Chaudhary: At Rejuvenation MD Aesthetics & Vein Center, we offer a range of skincare products that are perfect for summer. One of my favorites is our Vitamin C + E + Ferulic serum. This serum is packed with antioxidants that help protect the skin from environmental stressors like UV rays and pollution. It also helps to brighten and even out skin tone, making it perfect for summer when we want a natural, glowing look.

If you notice you have oily skin or oiler combination skin in the summer and dry skin in the winter, I would recommend switching out the Clear Moisturizing SPF 50 to the Clear Matte SPF 50. It’s formulated with lactic acid to gently exfoliate dead skin cells, niacinamide to brighten dark spots, and hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture. This SPF will help combat skin congested pores and hyperpigmentation during the summer months while protecting your skin from harmful UV rays.

Another must-have product for summer is our Rose Gold Tinted SPF 50. This product provides broad-spectrum sun protection with an SPF of 50 and has a tinted finish that gives your skin a gorgeous, luminous glow. Remember to reapply every 2 hours for adequate protection!

Q: What is your recommended skincare routine for summer?

Morning Skincare Routine

Dr. Chaudhary: A good skincare routine for summer starts with a gentle cleanser to remove any oil and sweat that may have accumulated overnight. The Rejuvenation MD Gentle Antioxidant Soothing Cleanser contains Green Tea Polyphenols that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, Bisabolol to minimize skin irritation, and humectants like Yucca Root and Panthenol to help the skin retain moisture. Your cleanser should effectively cleanse your skin, but it shouldn’t strip your skin or irritate it.

Follow up your cleanser with an antioxidant serum. I recommend our Vitamin C + E + Ferulic serum to help protect your skin from environmental stressors and improve your skin’s overall appearance. Vitamin C serum, particularly when combined with vitamin E and ferulic acid, is one of the most clinically backed topicals for its anti-inflammatory properties, reducing pigmentation, and helping protect the skin from long-term sun damage.

Finish your morning routine with our Rosegold Tinted SPF for all-day protection. The most important of all of my summer skin care tips is to prevent sunburn by using an SPF that protects against UVA and UVB rays.

Evening Skincare Routine

In the evening, double cleanse to remove any makeup, sunscreen, and debris that may have accumulated throughout the day. I recommend using the same Gentle Antioxidant Soothing Cleanser. For the second cleanse, you can use something a little more exfoliating. Our GLY/SAL 5-2 Cleanser combines glycolic acid and salicylic acid to unclog pores, accelerate the removal of dead skin cells that can interfere with the proper oil drainage of the skin, and soften the skin.

Follow that up with a retinol or growth factor serum to help stimulate collagen production and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Rejuvenation MD’s Retinol Glow Drops are formulated to improve the look of fine lines, wrinkles, pores, and blemishes without the irritation typically associated with retinol. This is especially important in the summertime when the sun can make the skin more sensitive.

Finally, moisturize to keep the skin hydrated and plump. Moisturizer is the final nourishing layer your skin needs to recover at night. And most importantly, wear sunscreen and stay hydrated to protect your skin from the sun and keep it looking healthy and radiant all summer long.

Also, remember that the skin on your face isn’t the only skin you must protect. Summer is a great time to begin a body routine. Be sure to cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize, and protect the skin on your body with SPF whenever it receives sun exposure. If you do get a sunburn, treat it appropriately with cool water, our Recovery Gel or a moisturizer containing aloe vera to soothe the burn, drink lots of water, and be sure to protect it from further sun exposure.
